I can't stop AVG virus scan when I want. HELP!?

I bought AVG Internet Protection today and started scanning. Its taking longer than expected. I have to be somewhere in about an hour. I tried to stop the virus scan(it not anywhere

close to being done) but I can't. I press the "Stop" button,

select "Yes" in the scan cancellation window but it just keeps on scanning. I can't exit either because I get a window that says "Another Operation is in progress and I can't exit until its finished". Any ideas? I have to be at work soon(5 hours and do not want my computer running, its a waste of energy).

*Are there other functions with this program other than virus scan(I haven't been able to find any)

*I have Spy Sweeper on but not running would that cause conflictions?

*Please don't suggest other programs, seeing how I already bought this one, I will try to solve its problems while I can.

If you are not able to stop the scan from control center. Dont click the close button on right top of the window. On the bottom right there is a button stop. You press it and then click yes. Scan will stop. If this doesnt work ...

Do the following. When the scan is in progress. You open the task manager(ctrl+alt+del), Then in the application list select the avg program running, Right click on that application and click. "go to process". And then click "end process", Now you press "yes". The scan will stop and the avg control center will be closed.
