Okay, I read AIM carries viruses, does it?

Is that why the computer I'm on runs slow? Will virus and spyware protection catch it? Is it like AOL internet in that it won't let you uninstall it and are you a computer person?

Try installing avast antivirus

it free and works great

it has 7 different moduals

1 for your IM, Outlook/Exchange Internet Mail, Standard, Network, Web and P2P

try running Spybot (it's free), Adware SE by Lavasoft (it's free too)

they work great, but each one seems to find a couple of things the other doesn't

I also suggest CCleaner (crapcleaner)(it's free) It does what it's called

get a MAC. Meanwhile, don't download files you don't know.
AIM itself should not carry viruses. It is possible, however, for someone to send you a virus by file transfer.
