My computer just got 99 viruses and I just took all of my important files off the computer. How can I re-set my computer to when you would have originally bought it?

And my virus protection program doesn't work.

take the cd/dvd labled Operating System, or recovery or windows XP Home/Pro

Boot off of that.

Select to delete the partition then install.

There should be a backup CD/DVD accompanied with the computer you purchased to restore your system. Boot up your computer with it. It basically wipes out your hard drive and restores everything in original. After restoration, before moving back your important files, be sure to install and update an antivirus software because your important file backup may be infected as well.
my suggestion to you is take it back with a reciept and if you do not have the reciept try to erase every thing off the monitor
get your internet soft ware to come to your house and check on the computer
buy the untivirus McAfee to secure your Pc . how long ago did you buy your pc?

I am not sure of your situation, you can try a system restore try that and see how that works

Hey there... what you need to do is reformat your hard drive. If I were you I'd talk to someone who knows how to do it before you attempt it yourself. What this does is it wipes out everything on your hard drive and resinstalls windows xp or whatever you have.
