Symantec Anti-Virus Won't Scan?

Hello, I have a school computer with Symantec AntiVirus which my school's administrator controls.

Just recently, anything that I try to scan doesn't scan.

For example, when I click start Custom or Full scan, or scan a particluar file, it says scanning for about 2 seconds then says completed. But, when you look at the bottom of the screen it says "Scanned files: 0". And then it just doesn't scan.

Please help! As I currently have no protection against viruses!

Im not sure if this will help, but on the main Symantec AntiVirus Menu it Says: "Scan Engine: " But it doesn't seem to have a scan engine, if that's the problem, how do I fix it?

Thanks!

I'm using Norton ( from Symantec ) too. It works..I can scan.

You should probably contact Symantec for technical help, or not just tell them to exchange another disk OR a refund and get a better AV like NOD32, Kaspersky or Bitdefender ( though Bitdefender bites your resources HARD ).

You should have administrative rights to scan your school computer. You will have to ask the system administrator to do it for you.
hello yes i have symantic antivirus may u menthion wat version u have this is because of a missing file usually from bad instollaion email me at tariqalkhani@yahoo.com and i will email u the latest symantic antiivurs edition and everthing will be ok
Firstly I request you to remove Symantec because thats the worst anti spyware you can have, download AVG antivirus from www.download.com and then update it with the latest protections and scan! Hurrah!
Why don't you contact your school administrator? You know Symantec is basically best suited for networks and your school admin. can enable/disable its scan options easily. It might be that he is controlling your files' scanning remotely himself.
