I bought my Macbook last July and I am very surprised at how badly it performs. Tonight will be the fifth time in less than a year I've had to leave it overnight for repairs (Apple Store). Problems have been:
1. Faulty hard drive (crashed, lost everything) they replaced it
2. bad logic board (replaced)
3. Battery completely dead; battery reader faulty
4. Hard drive crashes again, they replaced it again (thank god I had everything backed up)
5. Now the damn thing wont even turn on
I am so dissapointed in this computer. My dad has 3 macs in his house, and has only had to take one in for repairs in more than 5 years.
What steps can I take in getting them to replace this thing? I am a college student, and currently don't have a car, so I can't be taking this thing to the mall every few weeks (which is what happened with problems 2-5; on top of having final papers due).I am still under warranty; so it's free, and I plan on buying Apple care protection, but its the principle of it.

You are 100% right about the excellent functionality of 5 years old computers at home. These new Macbooks have on going problems and I also know Apple is working very hard to work on those problems.
Normally, if you have 3 major repairs, apple has a policy of replacement with new computer.
Secondly, you can call apple tech support and talk with tier 2 and discuss your problem and make a request of replacement, if it still doesnot work, you can talk with Customer Relation Department.
