This is my first time owning my own laptop, and I'm just making sure it's secure enough. I've seen what a virus or worm can do to a computer and I'm NOT about to let something on mine.
I have a subscription of Norton installed. Every feature -- Virus Protection, Inbound Firewall, Windows Auto Update, Protection Update, Spyware Protection, Virus and Spyware Scan, Outgoing E-mail Scanning, and Incoming E-mail Scanning are all "Secure". I scan regularly (every few days) and have never gotten worse than a low-threat cookie here and there.
Under "Internet Properties -- Security", my Internet security level is set to medium-high. My local intranet levels are medium-low, because there's no one else on my network (but my Linksys connection to my router is locked). My trusted sites are set to Medium, and my Restricted sites are set to High.
I'm always careful about e-mails I open and links I click...
I know I sound super-paranoid. But how safe am I?

Don't listen to AVG fanboys^.
AVG free has piss-poor virus detection rates.
Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. People of their ilk love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!
