Windows xp and higher versions have an inbuilt pop-up blocker. u can change ur pop up blocker settings here. Also u can download yahoo toolbar which has a pop up blocker.
hi.

try to look for words like, Update virus definition, or anything which says update or even LiveUpdate... when you update your SW it should stop popping up.

let me know if it worked
Screw Yahoo and their Toolbar! or any Toolbar for that reason unless you like things that are unnecessary running on your machine.

As for Norton, you are experiencing the notification to update your anti-viurus. Keeping up to date is important, how ever if your Norton has expired you may need to purchase the upgrade which is bull-****. If it was me and I have done this cause I HATE Norton, uninstall Norton and all its piece of crap resource hog components and get AVG anitvirus. Its Free, updates for free, and I have been using it for years.

Here is their site:

Just remember, friends dont let friends use Norton or McAfee.

EDIT: To update Norton, that is at least this is what I did at the office, right click the icon in the tray and select OPEN SYMANTEC ANTIVIRUS, then go File-%26gt;Live Update-%26gt;Click next and follow the screen prompts. You may be notified here that it is out of date and you need to upgrade Norton which will cost you money. That being the case follow what I said above.
