I was just checking my myspace like usual and then all of a sudden I started getting these messages about spyware on my computer and my desktop changed to a warning message. I clicked the link to download protection and it led me to SpyAway. I was so freaked that I went ahead and bought it. Anyways I ran a scan and it says it detected something crazy like 50,000 threats and yet it has only deleted 74 files. What does this mean? Will SpyAway do the job (please say yes since I just bought it)? Any help you could give me would be great. thanks!
SpyAway is confusing me...please help!?network security
Sorry to say, but SpyAway is a rogue program. (See Spyware Warrior link in source below.) Those pop ups that got you to buy the bogus program were most likely caused by a variant of the smitfraud infection.
In any case, it is a junk program and you have to get rid of it.
First try to do a conventional uninstall via your add/remove programs. But that probably won't remove it, so then I would suggest running RogueFix and/or RogueRemover to get rid of SpyAway (and the smitfruad infection.)

%26gt; RogueRemover: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download5360.h...
And finally I would suggest running Superantispyware to remove any other malware that the original trojan may have also brought in.
