How do I set up my Trust 600VA UPS to my Ethernet Modem?

Everytime we have bad weather the electricty dips in my condo, so I bought a UPS Trust Modem. The computer is now hooked to it, but when the power dip I'm loosing my internet connection. How can I set up the Modem to pull power from the UPS as well.

UPS has 1 battery outlet, 2 backup outlet, extra surge protection for printer/scanner and 2 phone connection, one marked Tele In and the other Tele Out.

I tried to put my Modem lines directly to the In and Out plugs but it won't work. Any suggestion

You also need to insure that the power to the modem is fed by the UPS's "protected" outlet, probably called "Backup Power" on your model. This means that the computer and the modem will both get power from the UPS in the event of a power outage. The "tele" in and out ports typically only offer surge protection to the equipment, such that if a spike of electricity comes through, the UPS would be damaged, but not your modem (or other UPS protected equipment.)
