Avast or AVG?

Which one of these AV programs are best at protecting my computer from viruses. I play a lot of games so I don't want a virus program to interupt me while playing, I like to choose when to update it. I do surf the net so thats the major area where I need the protection. Also I will be downloading one of them to Windows XP 32-bit.

Avast or AVG?house call

Avast! scored Advance on av-comparatives.org while AVG Anti-Malware (Antivirus and Antispyware combined)scored Advance+ (not Advance) but please remember that it tested the Anti-Malware not the Antivirus so it's uncertain what the antivirus alone recieved.

AVG is simple and easy to use but I recommend avast! for it's multilayer shields and protection but avast! requires a license key that expires after 14 months (if you're using the free version of avast! you can re-register for another key for free).

Avast! also has a setting where it won't interrupt you while you're playing a full screen game by:

* Double click avast!

* Click Program menu

* click Settings

* Click Troubleshooting

* Check mark "check for full-screen applications(e.g. games) before displaying pop-ups" and click OK and you're done!

*None of them has a firewall since they're only antivirus softwares so you'll need an additional firewall software.
