Complaint against Currys about my laptop, help!!?

I bought a brand new laptop from Currys on Saturday but when i got it home i discovered that it had been used already!! As it is a 60 mile round trip to get there i was very angry about this!!The computer also contains details of the 12 year old girl who used to own it. It has all her personal details including address, phone number, email, bebo, her school and it has photos on it. I'm bringing it back later %26 am going to complain but not sure what to say. Can i demand money off a new one? Also what about the fact i will have had to drive a total of 120 miles!!! What would i be entitled too %26 also what laws have they broke by selling me a laptop with the girls details on it? they're bound to have broken the data protection act!! Should i contact her parents to let them know what has happened as anybody at all could have got hold of it!!

Lot of issues here. However, not to panic. The shop sold you a used model in breach of the Sale of Goods and Services Act. You are entitled to a full refund or exchange, and could negotiate a price reduction and apology.

If you have contact details of the wee lass, then use your discretion.

See only the manager here. And talk to Trading Standards....we used to get this issue with fones also.
