POLL! Who loves Vista and who hates it!?!?!?

Personally, I can't understand why people hate it so much. I have had no problems with Vista except for compatibility issues that can easily be fixed by changing the compatibility mode in properties. Also, the only time I've had a noticeable virus on Windows was when I was on a XP computer, surfing the web with no anti-virus protection (I know, it wasn't a good idea but the computer was old and I didn't care). Also, I love Vista because it looks so good with Aero. Although, there are a few minor cons to the OP like slow startup and login times. Also, it is more of an eye candy upgrade than a function upgrade, but I expect Microsoft's next OP to have a lot more tools and functions. Ya, so do you like Windows or would you rather stay with XP? (Oh, PS I don't do much networking but my Vista PC, my mom's Vista PC and our XP PC all have a wireless network that was super easy to set up, no problems. We even share one printer) 8()

I have a Gateway desktop with an 80 gigabyte hard drive and Windows XP with a Service Pack 2 and I'm completely satisfied with it. Vista is too large and takes up too much room. I would rather use the extra room for more important stuff. I have AVG Free Edition which I downloaded myself and my Windows firewall is doing just fine. But that's just my opinion.
Microsoft Vista is starting to parallel the Ford Edsel in market acceptance. If they end of list Windows XP and try to force Vista on people, I'm moving over to Linux full time and so will about one third to one half of Microsoft's market.
vista is junk it was an "eye candy" up grade, when people choose pc's for function and compatibility which are vistas two main drawbacks, with no obvious pluses. For now we'll call it an OS, and XP is still the best, i fear buying any new gear.
First thing I do when I get a pc is change the theme to windows classic. Windows should just stick to being like it is we don't want flashy stuff in our way.

I have spyware on my laptop but it won't let me delete the files!?

ok, so i know i have spyware or some kinda virus on my computer because all of a sudden these files were on my desktop for some bogus 'protection' program that i never installed on my computer. and it has an icon in my task manager and keeps popping up saying 'you have spyware on your computer, click hear to download software to remove it' and it links me to some site for antivirus/antispyware software.

i found on my computer a folder w/ program files in it that match up with the stuff that has been popping up and i can't delete the files. everytime i try to, my computer says 'can not delete (file name): It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again'

but i don't have any other programs open. i've ran my 'nortan antivirus' and anti spyware program to scan my whole computer and even the folder containing these files, but it never does anything

how can i delete these files and fix my computer? please help!

ok after doing some research ive decided that maybe it is a virus, ive deleted it but i saved the file on a usb drive just incase it isnt infected or my computer needs it, my usb flashdrive has anitivirus protection though, but my answer is, should it be deleted or should i put it back on, how do i know this will really help my computer or not? ive tried deleting the file by locating my hkey_local_machine folder, but a lot of the procedures i dont seem to have the same folders available so i dont know if it is even completely gone from my system. HELP!

McAfee Scan problem?

hello i have McAFee my computer works well and ive payed 4 year protection and it worked well until now when i press scan, McAfee scans some files after 4 minutes of scanning it says:

When finished, you will return to home window

please help i need to scan my computer it has been a long time and i cannot fix it... any help will be strongly! appreciated

well the only thing i can suggest is to call geek squad and let them figure it out it will probably cost btw $40-$80 i think its betta dis way so u can have a gud computer and u wont have 2 buy a whole new entire computer

I just found the game world of warcraft and most people say it's really fun. I'm totally new with wow and i just made an account. I have a windows vista computer and when i try to download it i get the message "Your computer appear to be behing a firewall" then i click on more info to get helop but when i go to the page where they ask for me to use what virus protection i use, i click on mcafee but that's not the same one i have. So please tell me how to download world of warcraft on windows vista and how to allow blizzard runner so that i won't get the message "your computer seems to be behing a firewall" anymore. I'm totally new with computers and i don't know much about it so you got to give me the EXACT step. Go to your control panel to the security settings. You should be able to turn off your firewall there.

Mac Warrenty?

So I am pretty sure we are getting a mac computer and i am curious is the mac apple care protection plan worth all of the money. Because this is the first time getting a Mac computer and I like the computer but will the 90 day phone warrenty and 1 year protection plan enough because if I have a problem is it like 60 dollars for 30 minutes on the phone because will i ever experience problems when I get one.

Its definitely a good thing, but it hasn't been as good as ive hoped it would be. I had some trouble with my 24inch white intel imac's superdrive, and i took it to my local authorized repair shop. No paperwork or anything was needed, but it took 3 weeks for the part to come in. Unfortunately they obviously didnt check that it worked afterwards, because it still was faulty and i had to wait another 2 weeks to get a second superdrive. Luckily the second one worked, but overall im disappointed with the service. Although, i think to my self, its not like i had any other option, its either the apple care protection plan or nothing, because i dont think you can get any third party warranties for apple stuff. BTW i live in brisbane australia, so that probably has something to do with the poor service i got, youd probably get better service in america.

Why does my laptop mysteriously turn off when i play Empire Earth... (read on)?

Here are my specs. My computer is a NEC M320 Versa and the game runs smooth as. I have zone alarm activated, updated virus protection, no viruses in my laptop or spyware, and it has all the windows updates. In short my laptop is secured.

but when i play battle realms, or empire earth... it just shuts down after 10 minutes after opening the application... what can be wrong with my laptop... before i had so many software installed i could still play games but it's acting wierd.

Sometimes that happens when Windows encounters a certain bug. Windows is configured to automatically shutdown if certain errors occur in games. To turn off this feature open up your explorer and click on Control Panel, then click on System, when the System properties menu pops up click on the tab at the top labeled Advanced. Once there, click on the Settings button under the sub-category Startup and Recovery. There should be a category in there that says System Failure. A check box that says "Automatically restart" should be unchecked to prevent your computer from cutting off.

If this doesn't help, you may need to check the temperature of your laptop. If while you're playing the game you realize that the laptop is getting hot, make sure the fans aren't blocked and if they aren't, a secondary cooling source, such as an ordinary oscillating fan, may be necessary. Laptops are designed to shut down when they reach a certain temperature to try to prevent data corruption which happens at extreme temperatures of about 115 - 125 degrees F. Sometimes even 105 - 110 degrees F.

Maybe its not your computer..well, what i mean is maybe the game will not work too good with your game. if it is 3D that makes that even more likley. Try talking to the place you got the computer for extra help!
